bookmail surprise!

Sooo… this week I received a mysterious email from a shipping agency saying my package from HarperCollins was on its way. I could  not (and to be honest, still can not) recall having ordered anything, and I know I’ve entered a bunch of booky contests lately, because… hi, why not? And so I was just thinking: hmm, guess I’ll just wait and see what it is.

Today, Himself signed for a package, and when I got home from work I opened this!

Mind Games, by Kiersten White.

I’d marked it as to-read a while back, when I think I saw the cool cover on someone’s blog. The synopsis sounds pretty sweet as well:

Fia was born with flawless instincts. Her first impulse, her gut feeling, is always exactly right. Her sister, Annie, is blind to the world around her—except when her mind is gripped by strange visions of the future.

Trapped in a school that uses girls with extraordinary powers as tools for corporate espionage, Annie and Fia are forced to choose over and over between using their abilities in twisted, unthinkable ways… or risking each other’s lives by refusing to obey.

In a stunning departure from her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy, Kiersten White delivers a slick, edgy, heartstoppingly intense psychological thriller about two sisters determined to protect each other—no matter the cost.

When I opened the book, a little piece of paper fell out as well:

Do you believe it? It’s an ARC as well, so I get to read it before it’s even published in February! Super-awesome! I never win anything, so this was such a neat surprise. I’ll keep you posted on how I like the book, expect a review tout-de-suite.

Thanks so much, Pitch Dark Books! (If you like dystopian and dark young adult fiction, check out their site or their facebook page).

  1. Yay, congratulations! I love the little note.
The book looks HUGE though. I don’t remember it being so large when I saw it in the bookstore!
